The City of Conway is accepting resumes for a Traffic Signal Technician working within the City of Conway Street Department. The Traffic Signal Technician will perform preventive, routine and emergency maintenance and repair of traffic control equipment and systems and other electronic systems and equipment.
High School diploma or equivalent with one year of electrical related job experience preferred.
International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level I certification preferred. Candidates without an IMSA Level I certification must be able to obtain the Level I certification within the first twelve (12) months of their employment with the City.
Must be available to work non-scheduled hours when directed. Must live within a 25-mile radius of the intersection of Harkrider and Oak Streets in Conway, and be subject to being called out in case of emergency or trouble.
Must have and maintain a valid Arkansas Drivers License.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical manuals, and procedure manuals, etc. Ability to write routine reports and complete necessary forms required by the job
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret graphs.
Maintain electronically operated equipment and analyze operational malfunctions with testing devices such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, cable leak and signal meters, communication scope, etc.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds or more.
Ability to work on traffic signal mast arms from bucket truck 45 to 75 feet above the ground.
Must be willing to work in an adverse physical environment (inclement weather).
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers and elected officials.
Must have the ability to achieve work goals, follow City policies and safety procedures.
