Your cart lid must be able to close completely. If you find you have additional bags of general household garbage not able to fit in the cart, these may be brought directly to the city landfill at no additional charge to the resident account holder.
If the cart is full due to a large item or if you have a large household item that will not fit in the cart (such as furniture and appliances), bulky item collection is offered to residential accounts.
If you are a commercial account holder and your current container is not sufficient, call our office at (501) 450-6155 to discuss container options.
The men and women working hard for the Department of Sanitation make it a priority to, within locally and state-mandated guidelines, meet the waste collection expectations of every Conway resident and business. However, unforeseen events can occur. If your collection is missed, let us know by the next business day, and our staff will investigate further.
To ensure collection guidelines are being met, plan ahead for residential garbage collection, yard waste services, and recycling. Businesses can do the same for their commercial garbage collection.
We are a state-permitted solid waste facility, and so, we are not permitted to accept any liquids in our landfill. These liquids include, but are not limited to chemicals, paints, oils, and biological waste.
Residential account holders may dispose of small amounts of non-hazardous liquids once dried. Mixing the liquid with kitty litter, sawdust, or dirt (not sand), the original container should then be capped and labeled "solid."
Be aware! Pouring liquids on the ground or down the drain can harm our streams, lakes, and ground water. It is always best to use the liquid completely, dry it to a solid before disposal, or donate the liquid to programs such as Habitat for Humanity.
The Department of Sanitation is a tire collection center. Per month, residential account holders may bring to the city landfill up to four (4) passenger tires, off the rim, at no charge. Additional fees are applicable for larger quantities and tire sizes. Tires are not collected curbside.
Faulkner County residents may also bring tires, off the rim, to the city landfill. A nominal fee will apply.
Commercial account holders must call (501) 450-6155 prior to arriving at the landfill. A nominal fee will apply.
Bring them to the city landfill for correct disposal and recycling! Per month, residential account holders may bring up to four (4) bulbs to the landfill at no charge. A nominal fee will apply to larger quantities.
No lightbulbs of any kind are ever permitted in your curbside recycling cart or glass bin.
Televisions, VCRs, DVD players, cell phones, computers—these are just a few examples of electronic waste. This e-waste is not accepted curbside in either your blue or green cart. All e-waste must be brought directly to the landfill to ensure proper disposal and recycling.
Plan ahead for your landfill visit by checking for any applicable e-waste disposal fees.
Don’t miss out! Watch for the annual Electronic Waste Drive, hosted by the Faulkner County Solid Waste Management District. During this event, all Faulkner County citizens may recycle e-waste at no charge. Dates, times, and drop-off location are announced each spring.
Residents who require medical waste products—such as needles, bandages, and IV bags—for personal or in-home care must take steps to ensure safety and proper disposal. Contact your healthcare provider to plan for disposal needs.

Medical waste of any kind is never accepted in your curbside blue recycling cart.
Per state guidelines, hazardous waste of any kind is not accepted in our city’s waste stream. Residential and commercial account holders, alike, are responsible for monitoring and properly disposing of their own hazardous materials. Contact the Faulkner County Solid Waste Management District or Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) for provider information.
Due to the ban of hazardous materials within our waste stream, ADEQ does require our department to complete commercial account waste screenings at random. If your business would like to learn more about this process, call our office at (501) 450-6155.
